Photography contest judge chosen The Grove Hill Arts Council has announced that Chip Cooper will be the judge for its annual photography contest: Photography in Your Own Backyard. Chip Cooper is the award winning photographer who visited Grove Hill earlier this year. His work has been exhibited from France to Costa Rica, from Washington D.C. to Grove Hill. Connections with his work and Clarke County include a book with Kathryn Tucker Windham, Common Threads, photographs and stories from the South. Photographs entered in the contest will be on exhibition at the Clarke County Historical Museum and the Helm's House adjacent to the Historical Museum in Grove Hill. The Opening Reception will be Friday, April 27 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Continuing viewing will be Saturday, April 28 from 2:00 until 5:00 PM and Sunday, April 29 from 2:00 until 4:00 PM. The Award Ceremony will be Sunday at 3:00 PM. The contest is open to the public. Entries should be brought to the Public Library in Grove Hill, Jackson, or Thomasville during regular business hours between April 2 and April 13. Category B: Photos made by someone other than the contributor. People: Adults, children, or babies - portraits or entire figures - alone or in a group Pets: Household pets - alone or in a group. Scenic: Landscapes, architectural scenes, flowers, or any scene that has a fundamental unit of design or mood of such magnitude that all else is subordinate. Wildlife: Animals in natural settings: deer, turkey, birds, butterflies, reptiles, or insects.
Other: Candid, un-posed images that captures a meaningful instant in a flow of action involving people or animals or both, sports action, still life, or photos that do not fit in the above categories.
