AREA CALENDAR Clarke County maybe scaling back, but we are also taking a giant step forward in the fight against obesity. The end of "Scale Back" is approaching soon with the final weight in on March 19. Although the competition is ending, the healthy lifestyle changes must continue. On Thursday, March 22, a celebration will be held behind Grove Hill Memorial Hospital at the Cardiopulmonary and Physical Therapy location from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. to mark the end of the "Scale Back" and the beginning of a lifetime of better health. Heart Disease is the number one cause of death in the United States. Obesity and sedentary lifestyles are common causes of heart disease. The annual heart walk will take place with the "Scale Back" celebration emphasizing the importance of maintaining the momentum toward better health. Donations will be accepted for the American Heart Association. Walkers may choose to have sponsors for laps walked and may walk in honor or memory of a loved one. One lap measures 0.30 of a mile. Please join the community wellness effort by coming to Grove Hill Memorial Hospital Thursday, March 22 from 5-7 p.m. Together we can support each other and promote a better, healthier life. Local bands and talent will entertain and heart healthy snacks will be offered. Event will be rescheduled for inclement weather. Scale Back Alabama Final Weigh In Monday, March 19 The following locations and times will be available to teams: Fulton Heathcare 8 a.m.-12 p.m.; Coffeeville Medical Clinic 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; Children's Rehabilitation Services (Jackson) 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thomasville Infirmary 8 a.m.-9 a.m.; Grove Hill Memorial Hospital Cardiopulmonary Rehab Department 12:30-4 p.m.; and Grove Hill Healthcare 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Please weigh in with all team members if possible. Worthwhile Club selling Community Birthday Calendars The Worthwhile Club is selling Community Birthday Calendars. If you want one, contact Jane Eriksen 636-5780, Ann Hamilton 636- 2783 or any club member. Williams' Pride Chapter #725, O. E. S., host Walk-a-thon Williams' Pride Chapter #725, O. E. S., will have their Annual Walk-a-thon, Saturday, March 24, 2007. The walk will be from Nanafalia to Putnam. The walk will begin at 9:00 a.m. from the intersection in Nanafalia. Following the walk, fish plates will be sold at Avery and Michelle Williams place in Putnam. Plates are $6.00. Spiritual Kings singing The Spiritual Kings of Dixons Mills will be singing at The Clarke Street Baptist Church Sunday night March 18, at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited. Rev. Moses Lartey, Pastor Aimwell Cemetery Association request removal of old containers and flowers The Aimwell Cemetery Association request all containers and flowers be removed from the cemetery before April 2. Mount Vernon Baptist Church will hold singing for Relay for Life Mount Vernon Baptist Church Relay for Life Team will hold a gospel singing featuring "Glory Road" of Thomasville and various others. Everyone is invited to attend. A spaghetti supper will be served before the singing at 5:00 p.m. for the cost of $6.00, dine -in or carryout.
