Light Reflections
Needed, a few good men
Randy Walker

Do you remember the government ad that the Marines displayed across the television and store fronts? It was one of those commercials that will capture your attention. The commercial said, "Needed, A Few Good Men". The impression was that the Marine Core didn't want just anybody. They were requesting that only "good men" need apply. The Marines had set a high standard for qualifying in their branch of the military. They went on to say, "We are the few, the chosen, the proud". To become a Marine meant giving your best all the time.

This is exactly want we need today. Our churches and society are greatly lacking when it comes to a few good men. The majority of households today are single parent. Children are growing up without the proper influences of a father. They are missing the experience of a godly father. We have neglected God's word by failing to accept the role of responsibility. In 2 Timothy 2:2, the Bible says, "The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrusted these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." We have a God-given responsibility to be faithful before God and others. Men are to set the example by actively obeying God and following his commandments.

God didn't place this responsibility on woman. It is a matter of face that many of the churches today simply wouldn't exist without the involvement of women. It is a blessing that women are faithful, but God will hold man accountable for the leadership role within the church. The man is to be the spiritual leader in the home.

The man is to be the spiritual leader in the community. God is looking for men who will be faithful and active examples of Christ. We need men, who have confidence, faith and obedience to stand for godly principles. We need to accept the challenge set before us. We can find success in the power of God.

Where are the few good men who will stand-up for what is right? God is looking for you. We are living in an age where "real men" are needed. Take the time to examine yourself and see if you are putting God first. The thing that we value the most is the thing which has a hold on our time and resources. We don't more need houses- we need homes. We need men who accept their God-given role in church and society. Let God help you be the man that you should be.
