Couple wants to start ministry in rural Alabama
By Arthur McLean Editor

Ron and Keri Mason plan to start a street ministry in the area.
Ron and Keri Mason have a simple plan. They're going to do whatever God wants of them and try to reach as many people with their message of faith as they can.

The couple from Linden plans to start ministering in the Blackbelt area, reaching out to youth. Starting with a tent ministry Ron Mason's plan is to eventually have a Christian center that will offer clothing, shelter and food to the needy.

Their first goal is to start a tent based ministry. The couple was in Thomasville recently soliciting donations to help purchase the tent. The couple is partnering with the World Life Christian Center in Linden.

"We're starting out with the tent ministry, because a lot of the people that we're trying to reach often don't go to church, or are intimidated by it," Ron Mason said.

The couple said their ministry includes laying on of hands, prophecy and speaking in tongues.

"We want to take the gospel to the streets first then go nationwide," said Keri Mason. To date, the couple has worked in Linden, Selma, Montgomery and Grove Hill.

"We want this to be a place where people can come for help and healing," Ron Mason said. "No one will be judged on their race, background or the clothes they wear."

An electrician by trade, Mason has been trying to build his ministry for the past three years.

"About six years ago, I was laid off, I allowed myself to lose my apartment and have to live on the streets for months so I would know what it's like, living in my car. I wanted to put myself on the level of the people on the street."

"I want to share my message with those people. God blessed me, and I really feel like in my heart that I can reach younger people."

Those wishing to donate to the couple's ministry can send support to 305 S. Court St. Linden, AL 36748.
