Mt. Zion armed robbery

A local businessman was knocked out with a tire tool and robbed of $600 Saturday near his home and shop in the Mt. Zion community west of Grove Hill.

Walter Jones, 69, was walking toward his home when he was hit in the head from behind and knocked out.

Winfred Daniel Kelsoe, age about 30, who also lives in the Mt. Zion area was questioned and later charged with first degree robbery.

Some of the money has been recovered. Jones was treated at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital for his injury. Kelsoe remains in the Clarke County Jail.
