State arson hotline open

Wildfire can hurt much more than forests and grass land - it can also destroy your home, car, or business. Unfortunately, the leading cause of wildfire in Alabama is arson.

The Alabama Forestry Commission offers an arson hotline so that citizens can call and report suspicious activity in areas where wildfires have occurred. The toll-free number is 1-800-222-2927. You can report information and remain anonymous. If the tip is good, you could collect up to $5,000 in reward money. Last year, Alabama Forestry Commission wildland firefighters protected 1,726 homes, 821 structures, and 1,122 vehicles from being damaged or destroyed by wildfire.
