AREA CALENDAR Health Awareness Fair Bertha Mae Chapter #314 Order of Eastern Star will have its Annual Health Awareness Fair Saturday, April 21, 2007 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on the grounds of the Jackson City Hall. Different businesses will set up booths and there will be free give-a-ways. All screenings and seminars are free. Please come out and support this worthwhile effort. For information, contact Anola F. Holly at (251) 246-3036. Pearson and Criswell Family Reunion The Pearson and Criswell Family Reunion will be Saturday, April 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Pine Hill. Everyone is invited for food and fun. Relatives are asked to bring old photographs to share at the reunion. The Gates Family Reunion The Gates Family Reunion (William & Mary Eve Stiffimire Gates' Family) and decoration at the Family Cemetery (Scyrene) will be held May 5. The family reunion will be held at Ryan's Restaurant on Hwy 43 in Thomasville at 12 noon. Lunch may be purchased from the restaurant. Fellowship and decoration will follow at the Gates' Family Cemetery on County Road 35 in Scyrene at 2:00 p.m. Gospel music and devotional will be a part of the decoration service. Help CCHD Have A Baby Shower The Clarke County Health Department is going to start prenatal classes and needs incentive items for mom's who participate in these classes. There will be drawings of items for mom's who participate to encourage their attendance and your help is needed. Drop off the items you wish to donate at the following locations: Wal- Mart in Jackson and Thomasville (see customer service), Goody's in Thomasville, Gifts and Giggles in Jackson, Monograms & Things in Jackson, and Shae's Rays in Grove Hill. Things purchased at other locations can be dropped off at the Clarke County Health Department. Some ideas of items needed are: Diapers/wipes/diaper rash ointment, blankets, lotion/bath gel, pacifiers/rattles, bottles, baby wash cloths/hooded towels, baby bath tubs, q-tips/combs & brushes/nail clippers, socks/booties, burp cloths, car seats, onesies/baby clothes. Jewelry Sale at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital $5 and $10 Jewelry Sale presented by Jewelry Fundraisers at the Grove Hill Memorial Hospital Lobby Thursday, April 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, April 27 from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sale sponsored by Grove Hill Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, cash, checks, and credit cards accepted. The public is welcome to come and see the fun fashion jewelry and accessories. South Marengo Fire and Rescue Squad to hold Fish Fry South Marengo Fire and Rescue Squad will have a Fish Fry Saturday, May 5 at the South Marengo Squad Hall in Coxheath on Hwy 10 at the 36- mile marker. The cost will be $7.00 a plate. Please come and support your local rescue squad. The Demopolis Singers to perform The Demopolis Singers will perform their Broadway review "It's Showtime!" at the Demopolis High School Auditorium on Sunday, May 6 at 2:30 p.m. and Monday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature favorite songs from Broadway musicals, including "Grease," "The Phantom of the Opera," "The Sound of Music," "Anything Goes," "Fiddler on the Roof," "Forty-Second Street," and "Sweet Charity." Also featured will be solos from "Regina," the Broadway opera based on Lillian Hellman's play "The Little Foxes." The concerts are free to the public and donations are very much appreciated. The Clarke County High School Concert Band and Chorus will be presented in concert at the school's auditorium on Wednesday, April 25, at 6:00 p.m. There will be no admission fee and the public is invited.
