No Easter bunny in Tamale
But then, there are no department stores. What we have here, in what many have called the "Dark Continent," is just the celebration, and commemoration of the greatest events in the history of man, the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the only begotton Son of God, nothing more and nothing less. This will be our first Easter in Africa, and it seems that God has scheduled a remarkable resurrection in nature, to coincide with man's remembrance of the resurrection of His Son. In the last two weeks, on five different occasions, God has sent glorious, life giving rain to this dry and dusty land. This morning, Wednesday of the week of Easter, as if by magic, that which yesterday, was brown, is now green. My timing is not equal to God's. By the time this is printed and you read it, you will have celebrated your Easter, and we will have celebrated ours. But my timing does not matter, because every Sunday morning we should be reminded that this is the Lord's Day. We come together every Sunday to worship the Lord Jesus, because He died for our Sin, and it was on that Sunday morning, that His tomb was found empty. "Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my savior, He bore my sins away, Jesus my Lord. Up from the grave He arose, with a mighty triumph o'er His foes. He arose the victor o'er the dark domain and He lives forever with His Saints to reign, He arose, He arose, Hallelujah Christ arose."
The words of that old hymn say it all for me. It is our prayer that your Easter was all that God intended, but if it was not, remember this coming Sunday, that every Sunday is a reminder of Easter Sunday and we will see you in Church.
