Will we get a Chinatown?

I'm wondering if we should be getting ready for a large influx of Chinese immigrants, what with two new Chinese restaurants opening in town.

Maybe we can call the west end of North Chase the international food court now, with Mexican, Chinese and Italian all on the same end. Maybe they could land a Waffle House in one of the outparcels.

It could be pretty cool if Thomasville did land a lot of Chinese immigrants. We could have our own Chinatown. It would be another first that our illustrious mayor could promote.

King Football

I was listening to ESPN radio Sunday afternoon and I had to laugh when I heard the guy say he now knew there was nothing to do in Alabama.

If you're a football fan, I don't think I have to paint the picture for you. Of course, I imagine Daniel A. Moore will.

Being French

The French are in the process of selecting a new president. A radio program the other day was talking about this election was about the very nature of being French. Um, pardon me, but isn't everything the french do about "being french?"

One candidate was even politicing on lengthening the 35-hour work-week. Sacre blue! No wonder the French government is 50 percent of the nation's gross domestic product.

Technology

Technology is great - when it works.

Our newest software, supposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, likes to make our page files disappear when we're on deadline. Given the price tag for these fancy programs we use, it makes me a little nostalgic for the old days of paste up. Of course, even simple word processing programs used to drive my old editor to fits of rage. I remember him yanking the power plugs from the wall when his computer would freeze up.
