Sharing the truth
It was then that I saw a small Ghanaian approaching me from the building near our truck. He seemed extremely agitated. He was shouting, "I am talking to you. You can't park like that, the police will arrest you. You must park at an angle. Don't you know how to park?" Now, in the U.S., I might have reacted differently, but here, it is best to maintain an attitude of meekness, remembering always that we are being observed by everyone, like two whitecaps in a black sea. With that in mind, I returned to our truck and moved it, parking at an angle, as instructed by the man who turned out to be the proprietor of one of the stores. Later I found out that a city ordinance had recently been passed prohibiting parallel parking, except Pat where painted spaces were marked. Everywhere else, it was now the law that, you park diagonally. Tamale has no newspaper or television station. It was announced on the local radio station, and passed around by word of mouth. No one had told us. I had broken the law, unknowingly, but ignorance is not an acceptable excuse. I would have had to pay a fine or be jailed. Someone should have told me, but no one did. The world is full of people who have sinned against God, And they are in danger. "for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ the Lord." Romans 3:23 and 6:23. Those of us who know the truth are responsible for telling those who don't.
Share the good news with someone, and I'll see you in Church.
