South Marengo Fire and Rescue Squad will have a Fish Fry Saturday, May 5 at the South Marengo Squad Hall in Coxheath on Hwy 10 at the 36- mile marker. The cost will be $7.00 a plate.

17th Annual Nuthin' New Car Show Saturday, May 5

The 17th Annual Nuthin' New Car Show will be Saturday, May 5 in the Thomasville Plaza on Hwy. 43 (next to Fat Daddy's. Registration will be from 8:00 a.m. - 12 noon, registration cost is $15.00 per vehicle and judging begins at 12 noon. VFW Post 5106 to hold a Fish Fry

VFW post 5106 will have a Fish Fry on May 4. Fish will be ready to pickup at 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Plates will be fish, coleslaw, baked beans, and hush puppies for $6.00 each.

Surginer Volunteer Fire Department Fundraiser and singing

Surginer Volunteer Fire Department will be selling Thompson's Chopped BBQ plates (baked beans, potato salad, bread, cake and tea, also soft drinks, bottled water and coffee sold separately) on Saturday, May 5 10:00 a.m. until. Plates will be $7.00 or $7.00 per pound. There will be a singing featuring: Gospel Jubilee, Glory Road Quartet, Matt Akridge, Gene Etheredge and Friends, and others. And the "Stuff A Friend" will be back for the children. Please bring lawn chairs. There will be a cake auction or you may buy a cake of your choice. Thank you for supporting the SVFD.

Clarke County Alumni Chapter of Alabama State University to hold annual banquet May 4

Wilcox Historical Society to hold Spring Pilgrimage

The Wilcox Historical Society is sponsoring a tour of homes, churches, schools, and other historic sites located in Wilcox County on Saturday, May 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The places on tour this year represent just a few of the historic buildings and sites that are part of our heritage and rich history of this area of the Black Belt. In addition to the featured homes and buildings open for the tour, there are many others that can be observed during a walking tour of the downtown area of Camden which is designated as a National Historic District. Tickets are on sale at Blackbelt Treasures, Tour Headquarters, which is located at 209 Claiborne Street in Camden, or you can pick up tickets at the Weir Home in Gastonburg if you want to start the tour at this location. Additional maps of the tour route and other information are available at each of these locations. Children's Summer Art Camp Registration

The Mobile Museum of Art will hold a weeklong art camp in Grove Hill for children ages 7-12 July 30-August 3. Children will meet Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. until noon, with art instructors from the Mobile Museum of Art to work with oils, watercolors, and other art mediums. This event is a joint effort of the Mobile Musuem of Art and the Grove Hill Arts Council.
