Local teacher found dead

Local teacher, chiropracter and business woman Angela Armstrong was found dead Saturday at Choctaw Corner Cemetery.

According to the Thomasville Police Department, the TPD was notified around 8 p.m. Saturday night that a person was discovered there and Armstrong was declared dead shortly after lawmen and medical personnel arrived on scene.

She apparently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to sources. Although there was a suicide note believed to be written by Armstrong, police are leaving the investigation open until results of an autopsy are received, as part of standard practice.

Armstrong was 41 years old and lived in Miller's Ferry. She most recently was a teacher at Alabama Southern Community College.

A scholarship fund has been set up at Alabama Southern in Armstrong's name. Donations can be sent to ASCC care of Angela Armstrong Scholarship Fund, PO Box 2000, Monroeville, AL 36461.
