Ervin Elementary to be featured in Working Toward Excellence Journal

Ervin Elementary will be featured as a Reading First Site in the "Closing the Gap" issue of the Working Toward Excellence Journal. Alabama Reading First Initiative schools are K-3 sites selected by the State Dept. of Education for improvement. Ervin is one of the 93 sites in Alabama.

Ms. Jennifer Pyron from Alabama Best Practices visited F.S. Ervin Elementary School's campus on Tuesday April 24, 2007 and interviewed the principal, Mr. Bryant, the reading coaches and members of the faculty about the great progress the school is making. Upon visiting the school Ms. Pyron commented that she was very impressed with grades K- 3 at F.S. Ervin Elementary. She stated that F. S Ervin is one of the Top 20 Reading First Schools in the state. She further stated that Ervin will be featured in their August publication.

Working Toward Excellence Journal is published quarterly, each issue focuses in-depth on a specific issue in education.
