THS sweeps Choctaw County

Both the Thomasville High School Lady Tiger Varsity and Junior Varsity picked up victories over Choctaw County on Monday, April 30, in their final regular season games. In the games played in Thomasville, the Varsity shut out the Ladies from Butler 10-0 while the Thomasville JV won 12-1.

In the Varsity action Rachel Norris got the call on the mound for Thomasville and shut out the Ladies from Choctaw County allowing three hits and one walk while striking out four. With the win she improved to 6-1 on the season.

On offense Savannah Smith, Nicole Washington, and Dominique Watters each had three hits to lead the way in Thomasville's fourteen hit attack. Joining them with one hit each were their teammates Ashley Crawford, Shelby Myers, Shaneka Nicholson. Andrianna Penn, and Brianna Penn. Crawford, Smith, Washington, and Watters each had a double to lead the team in the extra-base hit category. The RBI leader was Washington with four followed by Crawford, Myers, Brianna Penn, Smith and Watters with one.

The Thomasville Junior Varsity took care of business as well in their game jumping out to a 4-1 lead after two innings and then exploding for eight in the third to put the game away.

Lindsey Overstreet, who started on the mound for Thomasville, picked up the win evening her season mark at 5-5. In four innings of work she allowed one run on one hit and five walks while striking out eight.

On offense the Thomasville hitters produced nine hits led by Rachel Wright with three. Joining her with two hits each were Taylor Gilchrist and Natalie Washington while Sheyenne Myers and Lindsey Overstreet picked up one apiece. Gilchrist was the RBI leader with three followed by Kaley McManus, Overstreet, Washington and Alexis Watters with one.

The game with Choctaw County ended the season for the Thomasville JV leaving them with a 11-9-1 record.
