Hoping for good decisions with mill
The feeding frenzy has started with the ThyssenKrupp stell mill announcement. The speculating in Washington County is about to begin in full force. Land prices there have probably tripled overnight.

Folks in Clarke County are also scrambling to make sure they're in position to score something in the steel mill lottery.

Yes, this is the biggest economic development project in the country at this time. Yes, it's a whole lotta jobs, and yes, the impact from this project should be felt far and wide, and yes, it's wonderful news for southwest Alabama.

Let's all hope that this rush to cash in on the German steelmaker doesn't lead to poor, short-sighted decisions.

We should be prepared and put our best foot forward, to be sure. Sitting back and doing nothing is certainly foolish. But rushing headlong into bad positions, bad partnerships and bad decisions is equally foolish.
