Boise workers approve new labor agreement

After many months of negotiations, hourly employees at Boise's paper mill in Jackson approved a new labor contract May 10. Members of Local #361 and Local #1083 of the United Steel Workers (USW) ratified a four-year labor agreement with the company.

Boise and the hourly workers at Jackson had been negotiating since July of 2006.

"Both negotiating committees have worked very hard to get us to this ratification," said Rick Grant, Boise's regional manager.

"They have dealt with many difficult issues. I am proud of their dedication to our mill. I am pleased that we have a new labor contract so we now can focus our attention on creating our new future together."
