OBITUARIES Bennie James Dixon, Jr. Bennie James Dixon, Jr. age 27, of Selma passed away June 7, 2007 at Vaughn Regional Hospital. Funeral services were June 15, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. She was born April 18, 1911 in Sunny South. She was a retired machine operator and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Percy Clarke officiating. Burial was at Wesley Chapel UMC Cemetery in Dixons Mills. She is survived by: niece, Barbara (K. O.) Kelly of Mary Esther, Fla.; nephew, John L. Percy Lamar Glass Percy Lamar Glass, age 84, of Theodore passes away Friday, June 22, 2007 at NHC Healthcare in Anniston. He was born May 20, 1923 in Octagon. He was retired from the U. S. Air Force Civil Service and a retired carpenter with the Mobile City School System. He was a former deacon of Fulton Road Baptist in Mobile from 1972 to 1974. He was a master mason with the Azalea Lodge #898 F and AM. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tillman's Corner. Funeral services were held at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Andy Hepburn officiating. Burial was in Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville. Burial was at the Hoboken Baptist Church Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Leon Barnett. Ora Jewel Norris Ora Jewel Norris, age 94, a homemaker of Dixons Mills passed away Monday, June 18, 2007 at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville. She was born November 3, 1912 in Bronson, Fla. She joined the Dixons Mills Baptist Church in 1934 where she was a faithful member and Sunday School teacher. She loved her Lord, her church and her family. She was also an avid gardener. Funeral services were held at Dixons Mills Baptist Church on Friday, June 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Martindale officiating. Burial was at Dunning Cemetery in Dixons Mills. She was preceded in death by: husband, Joel B. Norris and one son, Joel J. Norris. She is survived by: five daughters, Martha N. (Perry) Pruett of Madison, June Cassity of Dixons Mills, Barbara (Michael) Matthews of Mobile, Margaret (W. F.) Green of Arlington and Mary (Robert) Morgan of Va.; brother, Calvin Jones of Jacksonville, Fla.; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville directed. William Henry Kennedy William Henry Kennedy, age 60, passed away on June 23, 2007 at Mobile Imfirmary in Mobile. He was born in Sunny South on December 31, 1946 to the late Ruth Kennedy Carson. He was a member of Cook Valley Baptist Church. After graduating from Lower Peach Tree High School, he moved to and called Riverside, Calif. his home for 30 years. He moved back to Sunny South in 1997, He was very personable and loved visiting and entertaining family, friends and coworkers. Memorial services will be at Cook Valley Church in Sunny South at 12 noon on June 30, 2007. He was preceded in death by: grandmother, Malisia Kennedy; mother and step-father, Ruth and Willie Carson; wife, Minnie Lee Porchia Kennedy; grandson, Tyran Mitchell; and brother, Lolenza Carson.
He is survived by: three daughters, Andrea (Tyrone) Mitchell and LaKisa Kennedy of Moreno Valley, Calif.; four grandchildren, Tyrell Mitchell, Tyree Mitchell, Xavier Carrier of Moreno Valley, Shauntai Lamaque of Victorville, Calif. and Naona Lamaque of Victorville; three sisters, Josephine Carson of Riverside, Joyce (Prince) Autry, and Sharon Carson of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, Ray C. Carson and Lloyd (Lucy) Carson of Sunny South; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
