Folk Life Festival in Camden

Black Belt Treasures will host a Folk Life Festival on Saturday, June 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The festival will feature potters Sam Williams of Monroeville and Allen Ham of Selma, bird carver John Sheffey of Minter, vine basket maker Andrew McCall of Letohatchee, white oak basket maker Walter Brooks of Monroe County, storyteller and author Kathryn Tucker Windham of Selma, quilter Deborah Carter of Newbern, stained glass artist Tyree McCloud of Boykin, artist Faye Dixon of Bennett, the Martin-Hicks Bluegrass/Gospel Band, a Kids Art Corner, and a variety of food. Demonstrations will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue throughout the day at the Black Belt Treasures Gallery located at 209 Claiborne Street in Camden. All demonstrations by artists are free of charge to the public.

American Legion Meeting

There will be a meeting at the Thomasville American Legion Hall Thursday, June 28 at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the 4th of July BBQ Cookout.

Annual St. John's Celebration

Annual St. John's Celebration of the Rising Star Lodge 182 and William Pride Chapter 725 will be held at Gooden Hill Baptist Church in Putnam. It will be Sunday, July 1 at 1:30 p.m. and all lodges and chapters are invited.

Mississippi Pecan Festival taking applications for arts and crafts booths

The Mississippi Pecan Festival is currently taking applications for Arts and Craft Booths, Antiques and Collectables, Children's Activities and Food Booths for this year's festival.
