The Thomasville 9 & 10 year old All-Star team ended their quest for a District Championship on Saturday, July 7, when they lost 13-3 to Shelby County in the championship game. The game was the second of the day between the two teams with Thomasville having won the first one 6-5.

Before Saturday's action Thomasville had already played three games having beating Chelsea National 7-5 on Monday, July 2; losing to Shelby County 9-0 on Tuesday, July 3; and beating Chelsea American 18-17 on Friday, July 6.

In their win over the Chelsea National team Sammy Jackson and Wil Brasell pulled mound duty for Thomasville with Brasell picking up the win working the final two innings in relief.

At the plate Jacobs Brewer led the nine hit Thomasville attack with three hits. Sammy Jackson was next with two hits followed by Seth Downey, Dax Dozier, Matthew Hicks and Trevor Wood with one hit apiece. In the extra-base hit category Jackson had two doubles and Brewer had one. Downey and Jackson led the team in RBIs with two apiece.

Thomasville managed to get only four hits in their loss to Shelby County on Tuesday with Jacobs Brewer, Seth Downey, Dax Dozier and Trevor Wood each recording a single.

On the mound Dax Dozier, Wil Brasell, and Seth Downey all worked two innings apiece with Dozier, the starter, getting tagged with the loss.

Offense was the name of the game for Thomasville in their win over the Chelsea American team as they pounded out 18 hits in producing their 18 runs. Jacobs Brewer and Spencer Smoker led the Thomasville hit parade with three hits each. They were followed by Wil Brasell, Sammy Jackson, and Tye Williamson with two hits each while Ryan Calhoun, Nic Council, Seth Downey, Dax Dozier, Shawn Harvell, and Matthew Hicks all contributed one hit. In the extra-base hit category Brewer was the leader with a double and a triple while Brasell, Dozier and Williamson also had doubles. Brasell was the RBI leader with three, followed by Brewer and Williamson with two and Calhoun, Harvell and Jackson with one.

On the mound Jackson and Brasell teamed up again with Brasell picking up the win for second time in relief.

After the win over Chelsea American, Thomasville found themselves with a rematch against Shelby County needing to defeat them twice to win the championship.

In the first of the two games Thomasville's offense collected 10 hits enabling them to battle back from deficits twice to win it and force a second game. Jacobs Brewer, Nic Council, and Sammy Jackson led the team with two hits each followed by Wil Brasell, Seth Downey, Dax Dozier and Spencer Smoker with one hit each. Brewer and Downey each had a double for the team's only extra-base hits.

On the mound Seth Downey and Wil Brasell pitched three innings apiece with Brasell picking up his third win, once again in relief.

In the final game of the tournament and the third against Shelby County, the Thomasville offense was limited to six singles with Spencer Smoker picking up two while Ryan Calhoun, Wil Brasell, Dax Dozier, and Sammy Jackson got one apiece.

On the mound Tye Williamson, Dax Dozier and Trevor Wood all worked 1 1/3 innings with Williamson getting charged with the loss.

Although their run ended a little short of their goal, the Thomasville 9 & 10 year old all-stars accomplished a lot, posting an overall 7 and 3 record in tournament play and laying to claim a sub-district championship and district runner up title along the way. All the coaches and players should be commended for their efforts.
