Selma Art Guild The Selma Art Guild's Summer Juried Art Show Opening is on Sunday, August 5th. Art will be on display at the Performing Arts Center, 1000 Selma Avenue from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm and at the Selma Art Guild Gallery, 508 Selma Avenue 12:30 pm- 4:30 pm. The show will be juried by Andrew Hairstans from Dundee Scotland. He has gallery representation in New York City at the AmerstamWhitney International Fine Arts, Inc. and now teaches at the Auburn University Montgomery. Thomasville City Board of Education to hold Public Hearings Thomasville City Board of Education to hold Public Hearings on the 2007-2008 Proposed Budget, Thursday, August 16, at 6:00 p.m. and Thursday, September 6, at 6:00 p.m. The meetings will be at the Thomasville High School Library. SWAIA to hold a public meeting The Southwest Alabama Improvement Association, known as SWAIA, will hold a public meeting Tuesday, August 21, 7:00 p.m. at Jackson Steak House. The guest speaker will be Rev. T. L. Douglas, Clarke County Board of Education, District 4. There will be an update on the Board of Education activities. Plan to attend and bring someone with you. There will be a Men's Softball Tournament on Saturday, August 25 at the North Jackson Softball Complex (next to New Era). The entry fee will be $125 per team; plus 2 balls- 12" .47 core. Proceeds will go to Jackson's Relay for Life (American Cancer Society).
