SWAIA to hold Public Meeting

The Southwest Alabama Improvement Association, known as SWAIA, will hold a public meeting Tuesday, August 21, 7:00 p.m. at Jackson Steak House.

The guest speaker will be Rev. T. L. Douglas, Clarke County Board of Education, Distric 4. Rev. Douglas will give an update on Board of Education activities. There will also be a question and answer period. Plan to attend this meeting and bring someone with you to hear this highly important information concerning the Clarke County Board of Education.

SWAIA is a non-profit organization committed to promoting community unity/improvement and improving the quality of life for individuals in Southwest Alabama from a wholistic perspective; mentally, physically, spiritually and economically. SWAIA encompasses the Southwest Alabama Counties of Clarke, Washington, Choctaw, Marengo, Wilcox, Monroe, Conecuh, Escambia, Butler, Baldwin and Mobile.

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, school reform, truancy, rural housing development, career/employment opportunities, health care disparities, legal readiness, voter education/awareness, public service accountability, as well as youth and senior citizens concerns.
