WCHS's Brenda Autry receives awards at Principals Education Conference
A commemorative plaque was presented to Mrs. Autry that read as follows: "Alabama State University Certificate of Completion for participation in the Principals' Center in School reform at Alabama State University-Southern Normal and a statuette for Commitment To Excellence for 2007 in The Principals' Center in School Reform. Dr. Rosemary Watkins, who was the Program Director of the conference presented the Award to Autry. Additionally, Dr. Ella B. Bell of the State Board of Education and DropOut Prevention Center at Alabama State University was the guest speaker. The Principals' Center is devoted to the personal and professional development of school leaders. The Center utilizes existing practitioner knowledge to create engaging, informative forums to meet participants' needs and to create a pipeline of highly qualified individuals willing to assume line responsibility as school leaders who are Instructional Leaders and Leaders of Change.
Brenda Autry, who has been with the Wilcox County Education System for nearly twenty-five years, was selected to participate in the program because of her diverse experiences, unique points of views, and commitment to teaching and learning to benefit every child. Autry, who has been noted for receiving numerous accolades and awards the past few years, says, "It was an honor to have received the plaque because it recognizes not only my continued commitment to Wilcox County schools and students, but it also brings recognition of our school system as a whole and the many dedicated educationalist included in this team."
