Alcohol brings excess
Ifigured that as long as I didn't drink at home, no one would know. So my racing, which took me away from home, gave opportunity to drink freely. But then, from time to time, I'd take a drink somewhere and come home. I figured they wouldn't smell one beer. And the advertisement for Vodka said no one could smell it on you. Vodka stinks so badly and beer, I can smell it on a person across the room, almost smell it over the telephone.

So, I wasn't fooling anyone at all anytime - my parents, my wife, my children, my employees, and my friends. I was fooling only myself.

I thank God every day for delivering me from alcohol.

God's Word, Ephesians 5:18 says this, "Be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess." Some translations replace 'excess' with 'debauchery,' but the King James has it right- excess. After drinking a man will:

Laugh to excess
Talk to excess
Not talk to excess
Drive fast to excess
Drive slow to excess
Spend money to excess
Over Tip to excess
Become angry to excess
Perceive an insult to excess
Resent correction to excess

Insist on driving while drinking to excess

Do whatever it takes to get some more alcohol when what he has is gone to excess

Pay whatever is asked for more alcohol to excess

My pastor says, "Drinking alcohol leaves one vulnerable to wickedness."

I say Amen, Amen and Amen to that. I hope you will vote 'no.'
