Consider the children
On Tuesday, Aug. 14, the registered voters of Thomasville will make a very important decision. They will be asked to vote for or against the legal sale of alcohol.

In the past weeks the advantages and disadvantages have been put forth by citizens on each side of the question. In my opinion, the social and economic advantages predicted are far outweighed by the cost of alcohol abuse to individuals and the general public.

As alcohol consumption increases you would have to expect DWI arrests, alcohol related accidents and abuse cases (reported or not) to increase.

This, in turn, will be a cost to the general public. It will also increase the chance that you will be involved in an alcoholrelated accident or some alcohol related crime.

Emily and I have a genuine interest in the children of Thomasville and the surrounding areas. We ask you to consider their safety and wellbeing by voting no on Tuesday.
Sincerely,
Gaines Smith
City Councilman
District 3
