OUR VIEW
T'ville is bigger than alcohol
Thomasville is bigger than an alcohol vote.

Let's not let one issue define us as a town.

One message that rings clear to those who move here and visit here is the warmth and friendliness of this community. Let us all remember to share that with our neighbors as well as our visitors.

We can all disagree on issues, but it doesn't have to divide us as a community.

For those who voted to keep Thomasville dry, this is no doubt a bitter disappointment. The passion expressed by Robert Kirkland pastor of Thomasville Baptist Church, Rob Moore, chairman of CAAST and others was heart-felt and sincere. Their words and actions stemmed from the firm belief that keeping Thomasville dry was in the best interest of all who live, work and do business in this community.

The words and actions of Mayor Day and others who decided to vote yes based their actions in the firm belief that it was in the best interest of all who live, work and do business in this community.

They were two diametrically opposed viewpoints but many of the desires that motivated those viewpoints were similar.

And many in Thomasville, on the wet and dry side, also share the relief that this issue has now been settled.

What else do we agree on? That Thomasville is a good place to live with good people in it doing good things for each other, for starters.

There's so much common ground for us all to tread that we need not create a chasm with one issue. Let us all move forward to making Thomasville better than ever.
