Spiritual Reflections
When we walked in the door of the sanctuary, right on time for services to begin, we were met by a relieved associate pastor who said, "we are so glad that you have come to share a message from God's Word with us this morning." I knew their pastor was out of town, he lives next door to us, and he has been in the U.K. for six weeks. I did not know that the decision had been made for me to preach that morning. I had never been notified, though they thought I had. I begged to be excused, then realized my error, and agreed to preach. The only Bible I had with me was a small pocket edition with extremely small print. I had no notes, was unprepared, but suddenly I was excited about what was going on, because I was acutely aware that this was not chance. I can't tell you when I have felt that free as I preached, nor can I remember preaching to a crowd so hushed and attentive. Thy sensed, along with me, that God was up to something. When the service was over, a young lady joined the line of worshipers, who came to shake my hand. She was a photographer on assignment, from New Zealand, traveling through town by bus, with several hours to kill. She felt compelled to go to church, and felt further led to attend that particular church. She said that she had not been so moved by a message in a long time.
I don't know what God was up to exactly, but that's all right. I know He was up to something good. God is always up to something good. Find where He is working and join Him and I'll see you in Church.
