Health fair The Southwest Alabama Medical Center (SWAMC) will hold its annual health fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Thomasville Baptist Church. Vision and hearing screenings will be provided by the Lions Club and blood drive by United Blood Services. Health seminars and door prizes and more will be provided. Homework assignments Thomasville Middle School and Thomasville High School homework assignments are posted on line by all teachers each week at www.thomasvilleschools.org . They are published by 4 p.m. every Monday for that week. VFW, auxiliary meeting VFW Post 5106 and its Ladies Auxiliary will hold their regular monthly meetings at 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 27, at the Post Home on Old Highway 5 South. All members invited out to this important meeting. Thomasville City Board of Education to hold public hearings Thomasville City Board of Education to hold a second public hearing on the 2007- 2008 Proposed Budget, Thursday, Sept. 6, at 6 p.m. The meeting will be at the Thomasville High School Library. Men's Softball Tournament to benefit Relay for Life There will be a men's softball tournament on Saturday, Aug. 25 at the North Jackson Softball Complex (next to New Era). The entry fee will be $125 per team; plus 2 balls - 12" .47 core. Proceeds will go to Jackson's Relay for Life (American Cancer Society). The tournament will be double elimination with Championship T-shirts and for more information contact Cissy Carpenter at 251-246-8301/251-213-5873. Storytelling the topic of historical society meeting The Clarke County Historical Society will meet at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 26, at the Grove Hill Town Hall. Guest speaker will be the well-known storyteller, Wanda Johnson of Fairhope. Ms. Johnson will tell of the importance of storytelling and how stories can touch hearts, lift spirits and teach powerful life lessons. Her appearance is part of the Road Scholars program of the Alabama Humanities Foundation. The public is invited to the meeting. Parden Family Reunion
