ASCC nursing program granted accreditation
"As one of the first graduates from this program I must truly say that this accreditation speaks to what an outstanding nursing program we have here at Alabama Southern," said Brenda Rigsby, Division Chair for Nursing and Allied Health at Alabama Southern. The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) is responsible for the specialized accreditation of nursing education programs, both post-secondary and higher degree (Master's Degree, Baccalaureate Degree, Associate Degree, Diploma, and Practical Nursing program). The Commission has authority and accountability for carrying out the responsibilities inherent in the application of standards and criteria, accreditation processes, and the affairs, management, policy-making, and general administration of the NLNAC. NLNAC is a nationally recognized specialized accrediting agency for all types of nursing programs. NLNAC accreditation is a voluntary, self-regulatory process. "The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, and its predecessor, the National League for Nursing, have stood for standards of excellence for all types of nursing education for over 50 years," said Sharon Tanner, Executive Director of NLNAC. "Alabama Southern faculty have demonstrated their commitment to the highest standards of nursing education and their successful accreditation shows that Alabama Southern indeed meets these high standards."
