Vote was biggest mistake Dear Editor: When the news came about Thomasville being voted into being wet, I was dismayed. Surely we are living in a time when holiness and righteousness has to take a back seat to sin. And what makes it worse, even the mayor agrees to turn Thomasville into a sinful city. Kinda makes this preacher think about Genesis 19:1. Lot was the mayor of Sodom. Well, I guess sin is sin, no matter what color the package comes in. They say it's for tax money for schools and such but how can sin help anything or anybody? God's Word declares that when you allow sin to enter that sin can even make a whole nation fall, how much more the city of Thomasville. It was bad enough when they took prayer out of our schools. Is it going to be worth it to expose our children to legalized drunkenness, and all that goes with it, just for a little tax money? God says "the love" (or lust) of money is the root of all evil." 1 Tim. 6:10. I believe that we, the citizens of Thomasville, can help our schools, the economy of our city without inviting more sin into our community and exposing our children to more immoral acts. It is sin to drink any alcoholic drink, no matter what the reason. Proverbs 23:20,21. It is the opinion of this preacher that Thomasville made one of the biggest mistakes it has ever made when the citizens voted wet. What will be next? Marijuana, crack or maybe even to legalize meth?
