Pine Hill gas station robbed
By Arthur McLean Editor

An armed robber hit the Williams Mini Mart in Pine Hill Sunday night.

A black man, wearing what appeared to be a pantyhose type mask, quickly ran inside the store, pulled a semi-automatic handgun out and demanded the cash from the register, according to Police Chief John Brown.

The man took the cash, demanded the two employees get on the floor and not to move or he would shoot them. No customers were in the store when the robbery took place, about 9:30 p.m.

Although Pine Hill Police were on scene within a minute of being dispatched, the robber had already fled the area. Search dogs were brought out but the trail went cold after emerging from the woods and hitting the road.

That likely meant the robber hopped into a waiting car, Brown said.

The amount of money taken was undetermined.

The Thomasville Police Department, Clarke County Sheriff's Office, Wilcox County Sheriff's Office and Jackson Police Department aided the search.
