The National Honor Society recently elected its new officers. The officers for the 2007- 2008 school year are: president - Jennifer Henson; vice-president - Caleb Clardy; secretary Bethany Rush; and treasurer - Dylan Digmon. Mu Alpha Theta also held officer elections this week and its officers are: president - Caleb Clardy; vice-president - Larremy Pope; and secretary - Jennifer Henson. Mu Alpha Theta will have an induction on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. Students if you are being inducted please be on time and dressed appropriately. FCCLA, FBLA, and Drama have also met and will announce their officers in the coming weeks. Many clubs will be meeting for the first time this week and next, so students please join in on the action. Despite its rocky start, the Thomasville Tiger football team pulled off an exciting win against Hillcrest-Evergreen (49- 20). The team will travel to Jackson on Friday to battle it out with the Aggies at 7 p.m. Go Tigers! The Lady Tigers volleyball team suffered a disappointing loss to CCHS on Thursday. The girls will take on Monroeville and Sumter County on the 13th at 5 p.m. at home. They will also being playing in the CCHS tournament on Saturday, the 15th. Students do not forget the See You at the Pole Rally will be held on Sept. 26 at 7 a.m. Also, students who must do volunteer hours, now is a great time to begin finding times and places to volunteer. Mrs. Maroney is a great person to see about these opportunities or you can find new and exciting ideas for yourself. The Boys and Girls Club, the public library, and the Thomasville Recreation Department are all great places to volunteer. Even students who are not required to volunteer should dive in and see the wonderful ways in which you can help your community and grow as a person. It is amazing what one act of kindness can do for you and others! Until next time, I am Jennifer Henson. Have a safe and wonderful week! | |||||
