OUR VIEW
Local businesses are doing well too
With all the news coming out of the third supplier conference in town, it might be easy to overlook the smaller developments going on in Thomasville.

The Gaston brothers are nearly ready to open a new restaurant in Thomasville in the former site of Ryan's on Hwy. 43 and they plan to carry on the tradition of The Alabama Grill in a larger location. Call it an expansion if you will.

Family Security Credit Union just broke ground on its new office on Hwy. 43, growing into a larger location.

And Richardson Communications just opened for business in its brand new bigger building on the highway as well. If you haven't noticed the spiffy electronic sign, you haven't been through Thomasville lately.

Thomasville Discount Tobacco opened in the former Williams BP location, and more businesses are set to come to the commercial corridor soon.

Not to be left out, three new businesses including Jet Fashions and Public Research have opened up.

And the former Bedsole's building is currently undergoing a major renovation that will see the addition of office and retail space on the first floor and apartments on the second floor.

Renovation work also continues on the home of Beautiworks on Wilson Avenue with new apartment spaces upstairs and a good sprucing up of the facade.

Economic developers will tell you that when locally owned businesses are cropping up and others are expanding, that's the sign of a strong local economy and a sign of a successful community.

Congratulations Thomasville. Let's do business locally and see more local businesses succeed and expand.
