Parden, Welch exchange vows in Grove Hill
The bride is the daughter of Jena Stacey Parden and Larry Indwood Parden of Grove Hill, Alabama, and the granddaughter of Mae Loper Parden and Luther Indwood Parden of Grove Hill and the late Betty Evans Stacey and John Melvin Stacey of Monroeville, Alabama. The groom is the son of Joy Chapman Welch and Willie Andrew Welch, both of Grove Hill. Jeremy is the grandson of Beatrice Gates Chapman of Grove Hill and the late Cecil Stowe Chapman Jr. and the late Margaret DeWitt Welch and Roy Crawford Welch of Fulton, Alabama. The registry table, with a white floor length cloth, held a large cut glass vase filled with pink lilies, larkspur and roses. Jenni Dyess, cousin of the groom, greeted the guests and was sure that each one received a program. Vases standing by the pews held hydrangeas, pink roses and stock. Long streamers of taffeta ribbon reached the floor. On the altar beneath the beautiful stained glass window, the Good Shepherd, stood a large arrangement consisting of foxtail lilies, pink ginger, Asiactic lilies, pink roses, white and pink stock, larkspur, blue delphinium and blue hydrangeas. Standing in front of these beautiful flowers was the brass cross, a part of all services in the sanctuary. Each side of the altar, staturesque urns held arrangements repeating the colors on the altar. Hanging on each pulpit were garlands and wreaths made of fresh seasonal greenery. On the piano was a memory candle in memory of the deceased grandparents of the couple and Jane Chapman Dyess, aunt of the groom. The Lamb Family of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, provided beautiful violin music for the ceremony. They played a selection of hymns for the seating of the grandmothers and "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" for the seating of the mothers. "Canon in D" and "Over the Rainbow" were played for the processional of the wedding party and "Trumpet Voluntary" marked the entrance of the bride. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown from the Casablanca Diamond Collection. The bodice featured a soft sweetheart neckline. The romantic mermaid cut was adorned with floral beaded lace throughout the gown. Pearls, glass sequins, clear and silver bugle beads decorated the top of the bodice. The same beading scattered down the skirt which turned into a scalloped edge hem. The semi chapel length train completed the lines of the gown. The bride carried a bouquet of a variety of cream and pink roses and blue delphinium. Kelly Johnson served as matron of honor. She wore a baby blue dress featuring a Vneck front and a back that fell into an A-line floor length gown. Marlee and Macee Cockerham, Madison Hoven and Tenlee Parden, nieces of the wedding couple, served as flower girls. They wore ivory dresses with baby blue ribbons tied on the shoulders. Their ivory silk baskets were filled with rose petals. The father of the groom served as best man. Jack Chapman Cockerham, nephew of the groom carried an ivory Bible and Ty Parden, was the ring bearer. Ushers were Barry Hoven and Brad Cockerham, brothers-in-law of the groom and Jeremy Parden, brother of the bride. A reception brunch was held in the fellowship hall. One of the focal points in the room was a large urn containing willow, eleagnus, foxtail lilies, Asiactic lilies, pink ginger, stock and delphinium. The bride's table held an offwhite round three-layer monogrammed cake placed on a square silver pedestal. It was decorated with light pink ribbons, pink roses, green grapes, limes and blue delphinium. Serving at the table were Anna Sims and Dana Padgett. The groom's cake was a square three-layer chocolate cake decorated with fresh green apples, grapes and an arrangement of dried wild hydrangeas. Serving there were Julie Hoven and Jamie Cockerham, sisters of the groom. The Lamb Family provided music during the reception. After the reception, the couple flew to Jamaica for a week.
