Spiritual Reflections
What will your answer be when God calls you home?
Pat Ozment, Jr. IMB Missionary to Ghana

Yesterday Mr. Lancer, drove me to town to purchase paint and painting supplies for the wood frame of our new screened-in-porch. The porch makes it possible for us to sit outside in the evenings, with less risk of being bitten by a "Malaria carrying," mosquito. Lancer drove the truck, since he is now covered by the insurance, and he likes to act as my driver.

As we approached town I noticed there were great crowds of people everywhere I looked, and we were practically the only vehicle moving. The crowds got larger and we were forced to slow down and finally stop, because the crowds had spilled across the streets, blocking all vehicular traffic.

All the stores were closed and boarded up. The crowd was now shouting something in Dagbanli, and many of the young men were banishing machetes, as well as ancient shotguns, which they began to fire into the air.

The crowd kept getting larger and louder, by now they numbered in the thousands and they were pressing against the sides of our truck making it rock as they pushed past us.

I often go to town alone, but this time I was very glad Lancer was with me. He rolled his window down and asked someone what was happening.

"The chief has died, and we are going to bury him." We had heard about the death of the chief, but we had not been apprised of the funeral plans. This chief was over all the other chiefs in Tamale, and all stores were forced to close for his funeral. Any store not closed would likely have lost all its merchandise to the crowd. Day before yesterday the chief was a very big man in Tamale, now his body lies in a grave, and his immortal soul will have to answer to the "Most High God."

There will be one question, "Have you been saved, by grace through faith in Jesus Christ?" That's the question God will ask of each of us. What's your answer?

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me." Check it out in John 14:6 and I'll see you in church.
