Hunter appreciation day set for Nov. 24 in Pine Apple \The members of Pine Apple Promotions, Inc. are proud to sponsor the 12th Annual Hunter Appreciation Day Festival on Saturday, November 24, 2007 in historic downtown Pine Apple. This event features arts and crafts, live entertainment, an antique car show and parade, and the Les Moorer Memorial Buck Contest. Pine Apple is known as a popular deer and hunting mecca as well as being on the National Register of Historic Places because of its unique combination of historical architectural style homes. A BBQ supper will be held Friday night at the Moore Academy Gym to kick off the festival. There will be live entertainment and the cost of the meal including drink and dessert will be $7.00 The day's event will begin at 9:00 a.m. in downtown where vendors will set up to sell their arts and crafts. Applications are available for booth spaces and for entries to the buck contest and antique car show. Live entertainment will be featured on the Town gazebo throughout the festival. If you would like to reserve a booth space the cost for a 12 x 12 booth is $25.00 without electricity and $30.00 with electricity. The entry fee for the Big Buck Contest is $20.00 and each contestant will receive a free Hunter Appreciation Day T-shirt. The parade featuring antiques cars and trucks will begin at 12:00 noon at the Moore Academy School and will include horse riders, floats, children on bicycles and four wheelers, and other attractions. There is no entry fee for the antique car show and parade. Antique car and truck trophies will be awarded in four categories. At 7:00 p.m. prize money will be awarded for the winners of the Les Moorer Buck Contest. The hunter who kills the biggest buck will be awarded $500.00. Prizes will also be awarded in the women's and juvenile's division. There is no admission charge for the day's events. Hunter Appreciation Day is presented each year to say THANK YOU to the many hunters and their families who make the Pine Apple area their recreational home and to celebrate the opening of hunting season.
