Come celebrate Kathryn Tucker Windham
OUR VIEW
If you can, you should make it out to Alabama Southern's Thomasville campus Saturday.

They'll be celebrating the life and works of Kathryn Tucker Windham. And what's not to celebrate. She's the grand dame of Alabama storytelling and a state treasure - whom we can call our own.

The reissued book Alabama:One Big Front Porch will also be available.

With small town roots, it might be easy for one to diminish Windham's accomplishments by thinking her just a phenomenon known and appreciated by folks in Alabama.

But the truth is that Windham's talents couldn't be held by just one state. And her accomplishments stretch far and wide. Those who have an appreciation for folklore, storytelling and the southern literary voice can be found all over the map, and they know about Kathryn Tucker Windham.

She deserves the accolades. So come on out and celebrate Kathryn Tucker Windham.
