Herndon to perform at Gilbertown fest

Ty Herndon
Award-winning country music star Ty Herndon will perform in a special HOMECOMING show during Gilbertown's Octoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 6th. The multi-talented, goodnatured singer-songwriter whose hit "What Mattered Most" made it to #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 Country Charts, has a new CD out and will be performing in his native Choctaw County to help raise money for an American Cancer Society's Relay for Life® team. The concert will be held behind Town Hall in Gilbertown or, in the event of rain, inside the Southern Choctaw High School gymnasium on Ala. 17 about two miles south of Gilbertown.

Tickets for the concert are $10 in advance (at The Choctaw Sun-Advocate office or Town Hall in Gilbertown), or $15 the day of the show (all ages; children under age 5 admitted free). Ty will have CD's, t-shirts, pictures and other memorabilia available and is expected to sign autographs afterward. The show will begin at 5 p.m. with opening performances by area entertainers Mallory Broadus, Brandy Beech, Deejay Dunn, and Gulf Coast country music star Cary Laine. Bring your lawn chairs; refreshments/snacks will be sold at the all-day Octoberfest which begins that morning at 9 a.m. in the same location. The day-long "all family" event will feature arts and crafts, singing, a classic car/truck show, and activities for children.
