New board of registrars sworn in

The Clarke County Board of Registrars began their new four-year term Oct. 1. Registrars include Martha Dumas, Jean Payne and Louise Knox.

Individuals may register to vote when they turn 18. They must be U.S. citizens, residents of Alabama and not have been convicted of any disqualifying felony or declared "mentally incompetent" by a court.

Voters are assigned to appropriate precincts depending on where they live.

Voters who have moved into the county or within the county should contact the registrars office for a new precinct assignment.

Forms are available for new voters and for voters who have moved through deputy registrars or at the local registrars office, located in the basement of the Clarke County Courthouse in Grove Hill.

The office is open 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Mondays- Fridays.
