Sewer bill leads to strong words During Monday night's Grove Hill Town Council meeting former council member Mary Golthy accused Mayor Lamar Hudson of settling a personal vendetta by charging her a full sewage rate. Golthy said she had a septic tank at her home that all the waste water from her home, except from one bathroom, went to. When the bathroom was added in 2000 it was tied in to Grove Hill's waste water system. "I asked for an adjustment since only the water from that one bathroom was going into the sewer system. Mr. Kossie Powell, on the water board, gave me the adjustment. You changed it a month ago without the consent of a legislative body," Golthy told the mayor. Hudson replied that sewage was not under the water board's authority. "Why didn't you call me before changing it? You shouldn't let your personal feelings interfere with your mayoral duties just because you're mad with me," she said.
The mayor said his personal feelings had nothing to do with the change and he was rectifying a mistake. "Why don't you just have all your waste water go into the septic tank," he asked her.
