Members of the Thomasville Lions Club got a double surprise at their last meeting. Past District Governor Linda Ziglar was there to present two very special awards. All the clubs in District 34-N submitted their nominations for "Lion of the Year" Award and they were turned over to a committee to select the winner. In a totally separate committee, nominations for "Lions Club of the Year" were selected from all the clubs in the district (with 36 clubs in this district).
Thomasville was selected for both honors. Lion Howard Jackson was presented the plaque for "Lion of the Year" award and Thomasville Lions Club was awarded the plaque for "Lions Club of the Year Award".
Lion Jackson is the epitome of Lionism and has received many awards over the years. He is a Melvin Jones Fellow (the highest award in Lionism) and has been a member of our club for 43 years. During this time he has sponsored 42 new members and has been secretary of the club for many of those years. He holds the record for 26 consecutive years of perfect attendance.

While many of the clubs in the district are declining in membership, Thomasville is growing with several new members this year including our first father-daughter team. We have many projects and we are involved in serving the community in every way we can. We are very proud of our club and would like to encourage anyone to join us. We meet every first and third Tuesday nights at The Garden.
