CHURCH CALENDAR

Singing

Creel's Chapel United Methodist Church will host 2nd Mile and other local talent in concert at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6. Everyone is invited.

Homecoming

Liberty Methodist Church, between Sunny South and Lower Peach Tree, will celebrate its annual homecoming Sunday, Oct. 7. Worship and fellowship will begin at 10:45 a.m. Dinner on the grounds will follow.

Homecoming

Grove Hill Methodist Protestant Church, across from Lathan Funeral Home north of Grove Hill, will be celebrating its annual homecoming Sunday, Oct. 7. Sunday School starts at 10 a.m., followed by the worship service at 11 a.m. A covered dish lunch will be served at noon. Crimson City will be singing beginning at 1 p.m. Everyone is invited to come join in this special day. Rev. Benny Crawford is the pastor.

Harvest rally

Miles Chapel Church in Thomasville will host its annual Harvest Rally at 2 p.m., Oct. 7. The theme will be "Sowing and Reaping," based on Matthew 13: 24-30. Sister Hellen Lewis will be mistress of ceremonies and Elder Hazel Kirksey is pastor.

Week of Celebration

Bassett Creek Baptist Church will be hosting its third annual Week of Celebration Sunday, Oct. 7 through Wednesday, Oct. 10.

Pastor Chris Kynard said, "This has become a much anticipated week for us. This week we are changing things a bit by inviting a great southern gospel singing group to kick off the celebration on Sunday morning."

The Sunday services will be at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and weeknights at 7 p.m.

The line-up for this week shapes up like this: Sunday morning will feature Southern Gospel Group "The Fisherman" of Boaz. On Sunday evening the message will be brought by Shannon Moses, pastor of Peniel Baptist Church. The Monday evening message will be by Dr. Bobby Hopper, DOM for the Bethel Association. Tuesday's guest preacher will be Dr. Robert Kirkland, pastor of Thomasville Baptist Church. Special guest for the last night - Wednesday - will be Dr. Teman Knight, director of the office of Leadership and Church Care for the Alabama State Board of Missions. Pastor Kynard issues an invitation to the entire community for what promises to be a week of renewal and joyous celebration of faith. Choir anniversary

The Star Bethel Primitive Baptist Church will celebrate its annual choir anniversary Saturday, Oct. 13 at 6:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14. Elder John H. Wright is pastor.

Homecoming

Pleasant Hill Methodist Church will host homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 14 with morning worship beginning at 11 a.m. The Rev. Bennie Crawford will be the guest speaker. Dinner on the ground to follow. For more information call 334- 636-9033.

Homecoming and revival

Sunflower A.O.H. Church of God on McFadden Avenue in Thomasville will hold homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 14, followed by revival Monday through Friday, Oct. 15 - 19.

Homecoming will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14. Speaker will be Elder Raymond McConnell, pastor, of Christ Temple in Lower Peachtree.

Evangelist for the week of revival will be Elder Bobby R. Harmon, of Carlton A.O.H. Church of God.

Fall revival

Grove Hill Baptist Church will host its fall revival at 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 21 and 7 p.m., Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 22-24. Dr. Don Boone, pastor of First Baptist Church in Vancleave, Miss. will be guest evangelist for the week. Dr. Boone was pastor of one of the strongest churches in Mississippi. He graduated from University of Mobile and holds two masters' degrees and a doctor of ministries degree from Southern Seminary in Jacksonville, Fla.

Dr. Randy Boone, minister of music, will be leading the music. A nursery will be provided for smaller children. Bro. Hughie Denton, interim pastor, and church members invite everyone to join in the week of great preaching, great singing and fellowship.

Benefit singing

A benefit singing will be held for 23-year old Jeffery West of Grove Hill, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Oct. 27, at the Thomasville High School cafeteria. West has a rare disease called Castlemans disease. He is the son of Don and Betsy West of Grove Hill and is a volunteer fireman in the Helwestern community. Featured singers for the event will include Glory Road, Dixie Disciples, Josh Andrews, Brandy Beech, Larry and Carol Cox and more. No admission will be charged but a love offering will be accepted for West. For more information call Annie Knight at 334-636-5601.
