Shepherd joins staff at ASCC

Dr. John A. Johnson, President of Alabama Southern Community College, recently appointed Dr. Charles Wesley Shepherd, Jr. of Quitman, Miss. to the position of director for the National Center for Pulp and Paper Technology Training.

"We are honored to have Dr. Shepherd join our staff," said Dr. Johnson. "He will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our institution as well as continue to provide the citizens of Southwest Alabama the best education in advanced technical skills training."

Dr. Shepherd has worked in the field of technical education for over 25 years. His experience includes serving as an instructor for vocational / technical education, superintendent for Quitman Schools in Mississippi, and director of Vocational / Technical Education at the Clarke County (Miss.) Vocational Center.

Dr. Shepherd's educational background includes undergraduate and graduate degrees in vocational / technical education and a doctor of education degree with specialization in agricultural education and experimental statistics. All of his degrees were earned at Mississippi State University.

"I am very excited about this opportunity to work at the National Center," said Dr. Shepherd. "I believe in the goals of this institution and the National Center and I look forward to working with the advanced technology faculty and the staff of Alabama Southern."
