Environmental education
Auburn University Environmental Institute, an environmental outreach education program, and 48 students from Camden School for the Arts and Technology participated in a national public lands day event at the Bridgeport Boat Ramp and Park near Camden. The students spent about an hour each morning cleaning up trash in and around the boat ramp and picnic area and then spent the remainder of the morning learning about wetlands ecology, native and invasive plant species and water quality issues from members of the Army Corp of Engineers and Vicky Smith, wildlife educator. The event was sponsored by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Weyerhaeuser, Ala-Tom RC&D Council, Sierra Club Water Sentinels and Auburn University.
