Sweet Water PTO holds first meeting of year The Sweet Water High School P.T.O. recently held its first meeting of the new school year in the school cafeteria. The officers are as follows: President, Glenda Rodgers; Vice-President, Sonya Simmons; and Secretary- Treasurer, Jennifer Walker. Sonya Simmons opened the meeting and welcomed all in attendance. Jennifer Walker discussed an upcoming fundraiser of Sweet Water High School car magnets. Mr. Stokley addressed the many parents and students in attendance. He introduced the new faculty and staff and then discussed the proposed PTO projects for 2007. The projects include $2,500 for new library books, $1,000 for Accelerated Reader Awards, $800 for a laptop computer for the school nurse, $2,000 for high school drug testing for 2007-2008, $779 for a new school sign for the entrance into town, and $2,000 for two LCD projectors for the high school teachers. The total amount was $9, 079.00. All projects were approved.
Mr. Stokley thanked the PTO for their generosity noting that PTO donations over the last five years totaled $46, 663.
