CCHS downs Jackson The 4,000 plus football fans in Grove Hill were treated to free football last Friday night as they saw the Clarke County High School Bulldogs beat the Jackson Aggies 22-21, in overtime, to capture the 91st meeting between the two schools. The game was knotted at 14- 14 when the extra period began. The Aggies had the ball first and it took two plays to hit paydirt when quarterback Ladarius Austin snaked in from 7-yards out for the touchdown. John David Mitchell kicked the PAT to give Jackson a 21-14 lead. The Bulldogs then took over at the 10-yard line for their possession. On the second play Tyler Walker pitched a 10-yard TD pass to running back Bubba Frazier. That score set up the decision to kick the PAT and tie the game or go for the 2-point conversion. Coach Allan Floyd and his staff decided to go for the 2- point conversion. The Bulldogs faked a fullback toss to Kenneth Kimbrough, Walker pulled the ball and flipped the tight end dump pass to the open arms of Justin Robinson, for the game clinching conversion, making it 22-21. "I thought it showed a whole lot of class when one of the Jackson players came back on the field after the game and congratulated me and the team on the call to go for 2-points," Coach Floyd said. "That really meant a whole lot to me personally."
The classic was a defensive struggle throughout with Clarke County notching the game's first score when Kimbrough burst through the line and rambled 64-yards.
