Guilt by association for college teachers
The scandals and irregularities in Alabama's two-year colleges add further, disappointing emphasis to how politics in Alabama has worked for far too long.

The most recent episode is a Securities and Exchange Commission's investigation of the system's finances. Now, the SEC makes it clear that the investigation itself is no indication of any wrong-doing, but that news is certainly not helping the system's image any.

And what does all this do for the teachers? The ones who show up for work every day, trying to reach their students, trying to prepare them and equip them for future careers? It casts a shadow on what they do and the hard work they put forth to provide the best education they can.

Fortunately, this also means that our children can still get a good education at the two-year college, but that's been lost amidst the stories of scandal and corruption.

The wrong-doers have done not only the taxpayers and their institutions a disservice, but they've also done the thousands of students of Alabama's two-year colleges a disservice as well. And for that they should also surely be ashamed.
