CHURCH CALENDAR Praise in word and song The Henderson / Henry District Choir will present Praising the Lord in Word and Song at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Thomasville Church of God in Christ, 1200 Church Drive, Thomasville. Featured will be district elders and ministers' wives expounding on the word of God. Special guest speaker will be Sister Ruby Roberts, state chairlady of the Alabama Jurisdictional One Music Department. District choir president is Sister Marie Shamburger and vice president is Sister Joyce Cleveland. District Superintendent is Solomon Smith. Elder Jimmy L. Allen, host pastor and Alabama Jurisdictional One State Minister of Music invites everyone. Choir anniversary The Star Bethel Primitive Baptist Church will celebrate its annual choir anniversary Saturday, Oct. 13 at 6:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14. Elder John H. Wright is pastor. Homecoming Pleasant Hill Methodist Church will host homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 14 with morning worship beginning at 11 a.m. The Rev. Bennie Crawford will be the guest speaker. Dinner on the ground to follow. For more information call 334- 636-9033. Harvest festival Messiah Lutheran Church will celebrate its annual harvest festival at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14. Speaker will be Lay Pastor Major Madison Jr. Revival Dickinson Baptist Church, 101 Ashford Lane in Dickinsonville, will host a fall revival Sunday, Oct. 14 through Wednesday, Oct. 17 with guest speaker Dr. Donnie Guy of Gulfport, Miss. Sunday services will be held at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and weeknights at 7 p.m. Church pastor James Parnell invites everyone. Homecoming and revival Sunflower A.O.H. Church of God on McFadden Avenue in Thomasville will hold homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 14, followed by revival Monday through Friday, Oct. 15 - 19. Homecoming will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14. Speaker will be Elder Raymond McConnell, pastor, of Christ Temple in Lower Peachtree. Evangelist for the week of revival will be Elder Bobby R. Harmon, of Carlton A.O.H. Church of God. FREE clothes HIS Vineyard Church, 1070 Coffeeville Road in Jackson will be giving away clothes beginning at 7 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 20. Also, around lunchtime hotdogs and drinks will be served. A church spokesman said, "The response from this community has been overwhelming with donations of clothing items so there is surely something for everyone. Pass the word, grab a friend and join us. We look forward to meeting you. Many thanks to all who have helped make this event possible. The Lord will truly bless you." Fall revival Grove Hill Baptist Church will host its fall revival at 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 21 and 7 p.m., Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 22-24. Dr. Don Boone, pastor of First Baptist Church in Vancleave, Miss. will be guest evangelist for the week. Dr. Boon was pastor of one of the strongest churches in Mississippi. He graduated from University of Mobile and holds two masters' degrees and a doctor of ministries degree from Southern Seminary in Jacksonville, Fla. Dr. Randy Boone, minister of music, will be leading the music. A nursery will be provided for smaller children. Bro. Hughie Denton, interim pastor, and church members invite everyone to join in the week of great preaching, great singing and fellowship. Revival Good Hope Baptist Church will be in revival Sunday, Oct. 21 through Wednesday, Oct. 24. The Sunday morning service will be followed by a covered dish lunch. Weekday services will begin at 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Hal Taylor and special music will be offered by Bro. Buddy Delsen. Benefit singing A benefit singing will be held for 23-year old Jeffery West of Grove Hill, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Oct. 27, at the Thomasville High School cafeteria. West has a rare disease called Castlemans disease. He is the son of Don and Betsy West of Grove Hill and is a volunteer fireman in the Helwestern community. Featured singers for the event will include Glory Road, Dixie Disciples, Josh Andrews, Brandy Beech, Larry and Carol Cox and more. Homecoming Thomaston Baptist Church will host its 67th annual homecoming Sunday, Oct. 28. Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m. Morning worship will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne Sharp speaking and Mitzi Gates providing music. Fall festival Full Gospel Lighthouse, 13990 Highway 10 West in Pine Hill will host Hallelujah Night Fall Festival from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31. Parents along with their children ages 2 to 12 are invited. At 5:30 p.m. judging and prizes for the most authentic Bible characters will be held followed by a Gospel Bill video (Jesus is Coming).
