AREA CALENDAR

New booster meeting date

Thomasville High School Band Boosters meetings have been changed to the first Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6, in the THS band room.

Teen reading week

The Thomasville Public Library invites teens to celebrate the joy of reading as Teen Read Week continues through Oct. 20. "LOL @ your library" is the theme for this year's event and the library will offer fun prize incentives to participate. To qualify participants must be a teen, come by the public library during Teen Read Week and check out and read a book Teens may register for prizes during their library visit. Story hour at the library

The Thomasville Public Library has openings in the story hour programs for threeyear olds and in the K-fourth grade class. Three-year olds' (Reading Bees) story hour is held each Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The K-fourth graders (Dragonflies) meet from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., each Tuesday. These programs require registration, so anyone interested is asked to come by the library.

Ghost Walk

The 4th Annual Kathryn Tucker Windham Ghost Walk will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Clay Park in downtown Thomasville. Costume contest for ages 1 to 12 will be held at 5:30 p.m. with Ghost Walk tours beginning at 6, 7 and 8 p.m. Come out and enjoy a fall hayride to historic locations and hear storytellers in period costume tell tales of ghosts, sports lore and Thomasville history or join in the singing of historic old tunes. This event is fall fun for the entire family and is sponsored by The Arts Council of Thomasville. Tour prices are $15 per family and $5 individually. Ghost Walk T-shirts will also be available. Autumn clean up

The town of Pine Hill will be holding an autumn clean up Oct. 29 - 30. Items must be left curbside by 7 a.m., Oct. 29, to ensure pick up. Items that will be picked up include appliances, furniture and other wood products. No batteries, tires or other hazardous materials will be picked up.

Fish fry

South Marengo Fire and Rescue Squad will host a fish fry Nov. 3, at the South Marengo Squad Hall in Coxheath at the 36-mile marker on Highway 10. Plates will cost $7 each. For more information on the South Marengo Fire and Rescue Squad visit www.southmarengofr.org .

AL-ANON Meets

AL-ANON meets every Thursday night at 6:30 at Pineview Baptist Church (enter door at Moore Street entrance behind church). For more information call 636-9985.

Homework assignments

Thomasville Middle School and Thomasville High School homework assignments are posted by all teachers each week. They are published by 4 p.m. every Monday for that week.

24th Peterman Station

The 24th annual Peterman Station Arts and Crafts Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, in downtown Peterman, six miles north of Monroeville. Booths are still available at $45 without electricity and $50 with electricity. THS drama presentation

Students in the Thomasville Drama Club will be presenting a play called Asylum on Nov. 3, for district competition in Mobile. If the play rates a superior the play will then move to state competition. the play will be performed at Thomasville High School before competition in Mobile. The date and time will be announced. Cast members include: Valeria King, John Sims, Cassie Smith, Jeff Shewmake, Camelia Forte', Katie Simon, Julie Dozier and John Thornton.

Halloween food drive

Thomasville High School's Thespian Troupe 5073 will be participating in the Trick or Treat so Kids Can Eat program. During the local Trick-or-Treat activities next week theater students from THS will be dressed in costumes to collect canned and dry goods for local charities and food banks. Reunions

WCHS class of 1993

Any members of the Wilcox Central High School class of 1993 who are interested in planning and participating in a 15- year class reunion are asked to attend a meeting at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Camden School of Arts and Technology, 303 Broad St., in Camden.

CHS Old Timers' reunion

All former students, teachers, families and friends of Coffeeville High School are invited to attend an "Ole Timers" reunion Saturday, Oct. 20, at the school.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. A covered dish luncheon is planned and everyone is encouraged to attend and bring your favorite dish. The graduating class of 1957 will be honored at this time.

Attending will be former students from a wide range of classes and this is a great opportunity to see old friends.

Sullivan Family festival

The Sullivan Family will host a big fall homecoming festival and band reunion Oct. 18-20, at the Sullivan Family Homeplace Park near St. Stephens, 9 miles south of Jackson, 1 mile off Highway 43. The event will feature groups from the Bluegrass Gospel Association and special guests. For more information call 251-246-4553.

Brunson reunion

Descendants of Tom and Hessie Brunson will host their family reunion at 10:30 a.m., Nov. 3, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Bring a covered dish and enjoy the fellowship.

Horton, Fendley reunion

The Horton and Fendley family reunion will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Coast Guard Park (Tanner Williams Road in Mobile, left at the red light across from the M & D store).
