Pioneer Day Nov. 10

The Clarke County Museum's Eighth Annual Pioneer Day is scheduled Saturday, Nov. 10, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clarke County Museum in Grove Hill.

Among the featured demonstrations are rope making, shingle splitting, candle dipping, flintknapping, corn shelling, chair caning, campfire cooking, cross-cut sawing, corn shelling, rug hooking, quilting, clothes washing, and butter churning.

The restored Mathews Cabin will be open for visitors and costumed re-enactors will be on hand to greet guests. Creek Indian Blue Heron will set up his 1800s hunting camp and Creek War soldiers will host a frontier encampment.

There will be live music and storytelling throughout the day. Concessions will be available.
