BOE, cities proclaim Red Ribbon Week

The Wilcox County Board of Education, the cities of Yellow Bluff, Camden, Pine Apple and Pine Hill, and the Wilcox County Commission signed a resolution supporting Oct. 23 - 31 as Red Ribbon Week and encouraged its citizens to participate in drug prevention education activities. Making a visible statement they are committed to a drug-free community.

Red Ribbon Week is an awareness campaign observed annually the last full week in October.

Throughout the week students, parents and teachers will be engaged in a variety of activities designed to demonstrate a commitment to youth and prevention.

The focus is on developing and supporting ways to prevent youth from using illegal drugs or legal drugs illegally.

The Red Ribbon campaign provides opportunities for schools and communities to take part in a celebration to raise awareness and draw attention to the needs for prevention.
